Easy on the eye and even easier on the pocket, Whyte’s Summer auction on Monday 9 July boasts nearly 300 lots with guides from as little as €100. Although the estimated prices are dramatically lower than recent sales, the names included will be familiar. This auction offers emerging collectors and those with a more modest budget the perfect opportunity to acquire beautiful works of art for their home at reasonable prices.

Following on the successes of 28 May- which included a collection of Harry Kernoff works from the Segal Family collection – a further 9 lots from their collection are included; guides €150-€1,500. Further lots from the Estate of Judge Desmond Windle include desirable names such as Charles Harper, Colin Middleton, Martin Gale, Michael Kane, Seán O’Sullivan and Patrick Pye among others. While the McClelland Estate also features with examples by Daniel O’Neill, John Luke, Brian Bourke and an interesting collection of lots from the Schools Prints Series (c.1940s) in Britain. A Lowry from this series fetched €2,000 in the autumn 2017. Guides from €100 to €600.

Wonderful examples in these genres can be found at attractive prices. Among the well-known names are: Frank McKelvey, Maurice Canning Wilks, George Gillespie, Patrick Leonard, Desmond Carrick and Norman J. McCaig with most parts of the island featuring; from urban cityscapes to West of Ireland vistas. Vibrant still lifes by Carey Clarke, Moyra Barry, Liam Treacy, Brian Ballard, James English, Padraig Lynch and others are available from guides in the low hundreds.
